Fragments of past memories manifest into tangible events that players can interact with. In this mental construct of Sam’s, players see certain events and memories in an imagined second world. It’s pretty standard stuff, but the big twist is the Mind Palace. Like most adventure titles, this involves talking to other characters, gathering clues and solving the occasional puzzle. When play begins, players control Sam as he investigates a conspiracy surrounding his friend’s death. ![]() The cinematography is varied and manages to speak volumes, even when characters aren’t saying anything. It’s a somber start and watching Sam ignore texts from someone asking if he’ll be at the funeral adds to the intrigue. Seeing an opening like this, filled with interesting camera cuts and incidental music playing out of the car radio is a rare thing. A former journalist with a lot of guilt hanging over his head, he’s returning to his hometown to attend the wake of a dead friend he hadn’t spoken to in years. Twin Mirror, the latest adventure from Life is Strange developer Dontnod, opens with main character Sam driving through a fictional West Virginia town. WTF How was I in the minority when it came to making that choice? I personally think, doing that just would have been icing on the cake for many people.LOW …hampered by distracting lip-sync issues. The only thing I would have like to have seen that we don't get, is maybe just a simple cut-scene at the end of the game, showing a glimpse of Sams life in the following weeks or months after you finished the game, showing you just how big your decisions as Sam truly effected his life and relationships. At your friends wake you'll be introduced to nearly all the ncps that you (Sam) grew up and apart from, most importantly you get to face your god-daughter and ex-girlfriend, who actually ended up married to your BFF after you left (ouch) But thankfully Sam has "Samuel" (Sam's Alter) who will help guide you(Sam) through life decisions and social connects as best as he can, but in the end, it is and always has been up to Sam to make the final choice and determine how his life is going to play out. Sam has a very avoidant and fractured personality, which can be quite relatable to many people, after his BFF dies he comes back to his hometown, that he pretty much ran from due to many stressful life events, to say a final farewell to his friend and pay his respects. ![]() Depending on you the ending can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beautiful or it can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad as all heck. A few times I did get a bit confused and frustrated when setting up scenes in my mind but that's on me not the game. I think the story is just amazing, it pulled me in and kept my full attention from nearly the very beginning. If you see it on sale I would highly recommend scooping this one up. It's a short game, I finished one play-through within about 6 hours, right now the game priced at $30 USD and I don't think I would pay full price, just because it is a shorter game. ![]()
